Watton once again on the road to face Wisbech II in this Merit League one fixture, Wisbech having a large squad to choose from with the first XV having no fixture would prove to be a hard fought encounter.
A small crowd and sunny weather welcomed the players as Watton received the kick off, solid forward play from the visitors as controlled mauling steadily made in roads into the home sides territory, again recycled ball and close control frustrating Wisbech into infringement. Richard Stone caressed the ball through the uprights for a 0-3 Watton lead. Wisbech responded well bringing play up to the visitors line but fantastic defence held strong, repelling play back into the home side half, Wayne Jolly smashed his way into the 22 with a twenty yard drive and more frustration from Wisbech gave Stone the opportunity to double his tally 0-6 brought the half to a close.
The restart saw Watton receive another penalty from distance, pushed wide from Stone gave the visitors time to clear to halfway. Clean ball gave Watton backs the chance to attack but a wayward pass fell to the home side to collect and touchdown against the flow of play, the conversion saw the home side take a 7-6 lead. Wisbech now took the game to Watton securing ball in the 22, good forward pressure sucked in the visitors defence and simple handling saw a well worked converted score 14-6. Watton not to be out done rallied hard smashing through defensive lines, strong running from Mcmullen, Barre & Moxham giving more composure to the visitors play, but with no decent attacking territory failed to convert strong passages of play into points. The final whistle saw Wisbech run out 14-6 victors.
