Watton played host to Fakenham II in this Merit League One encounter, other than the pitch being very heavy conditions were relatively good as Watton received the kick off; an immediate penalty attempt for Fakenham fell short as Turnbull cleared to halfway. Watton winning the line against the head secured ball and released the backs, with very slick hands gave centre Thurston ample room to touchdown unconverted for a 5 – 0 lead.
The restart saw Watton making short work of regaining possession driving up the park, with Lloyd Bryant at 10 releasing centre Walker to draw the defence and hit a pinpoint pass for winger Miller to convert with ease, again unconverted for a 10 – 0 lead.
Again Watton forwards terrorised the visitors forcing a lineout in the 22, the subsequent ball again spun wide for Thurston to double his tally; converted from Turnbull bringing the score to 17 – 0.
With Watton dominating at every facet of play a clever kick and chase saw Walker regain possession, quick recycled ball gave the forwards a chance to show there handling skills as front row Evans unselfishly gave No 8 Hynd a stroll over try, with Turnbull converting bringing the half time score to 24 – 0.
The restart brought no rest bite for the visitors as Watton forwards subdued there opponents forcing an attacking lineout 10 metres out a catch and drive giving Hynd his second score, unconverted 29 – 0.
As with the rest of the play Watton dominated the scrummage as hooker Perry stole 80 % of Fakenham ball, this possession was turned into points as replacement centre Murray put Miller in the clear for another score, Turnbull converted 36 – 0.
With Watton camped in the 22 second row Bayley smashed through the defence offloaded to Barre for the grounding, unconverted 41 – 0.
Again Watton turned over a scrummage with Hynd driving from 8 released back row partner Harris to complete the game with a score, Turnbull’s conversion bringing the final score to 48 – 0.
